Contact Lenses
Contact lenses can be a great alternative instead of wearing eyeglasses. The most common types include soft disposable, extended wear disposable, and daily disposable contact lenses. For people with astigmatism, we offer various disposable toric contact lenses. Furthermore, multifocal or bifocal contact lenses are designed for people needing additional help with up-close vision due to presbyopia which is encountered as we age. Sometimes, presbyopic patients may benefit from fitting their contacts as monovision, which can be decided with the optometrist. Colored contact lenses appeal to people who may want to change their eye color for cosmetic reasons. Therefore, colored contacts are available with prescription powers or with no vision correction. Finally, Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) contact lenses are also available for those needing this design.

Contact Lens Brands
Voss Eyecare provides a variety of contact lenses through major manufacturers which include; Johnson and Johnson, Alcon, Bausch and Lomb, and Coopervision. As an independent doctor of optometry, our office can offer many brands and styles unlike Big Box stores which promote their own products. In addition, by working through independent purchasing groups, Voss Eyecare is competitive with our contact lens prices. We also accept insurance if you have contact lens benefits and you may be eligible for brand rebates only offered through your eye doctor.
Specific contacts we offer include, but are not limited to some of the following brands: Acuvue Oasys, Acuvue Moist, 1 Day Acuvue Moist, Air Optix, Precision 1, Total 30, Dailies Aqua Comfort, Biofinity, Clarity, Bio True and Ultra. Brands are available as single vision, toric for astigmatism, and as multi-focal designs. Contacts are available as disposable or extended wear and come in different quantities. Ask our staff about your insurance benefits during your routine eye examination.
Contact Fitting
All contact lenses require a fitting. A fitting is necessary on an annual basis even if wearing contacts with no prescription for cosmetic reasons. Fittings can usually be completed in combination with your routine eye exam. The contact lens fitting will determine the type of contacts best suited to you and your lifestyle. The additional testing with Dr. Voss involves measurements of the cornea called Keratometry, time with the optometrist to determine the fit on the eye and visual acuity, plus trial contacts if appropriate. He may provide you with new trial lenses the same day or he will order trials lenses for you if changing brands or prescription.
If you have never worn contact lenses, you will have an initial conversation with the optometrist. New wearers are fit with contacts the same day or trials will be ordered. A separate training session will be completed before going home with contacts. A follow-up contact lens check with Dr. Voss will be scheduled before your contact lens prescription is finalized.
Fittings for new and existing wearers are additional fees which may or may not be covered by your routine insurance plan. Some vision insurance plans may cover some or all of the cost of contact lenses. In many cases, you may use your eye benefits for contacts or eyeglasses, but not both in the same insurance year. Our optical staff will assist you with ordering contacts through Voss Eyecare to maximize your insurance benefits.
